The Library has four California State Library Hiking Backpacks available for borrowing. These backpacks were provided to the Library in a grant awarded by the Southern California Library Cooperative and California State Library. 

Library cardholders may borrow a backpack for two weeks. You may place a hold if none are available.

Each backpack includes:

  • Trekking poles (adjustable from 24" to 55").
  • Binoculars.
  • Compass.
  • Horn.
  • Flashlight.
  • Microscope.
  • 2 ponchos.
  • 2 mosquito head nets.
  • 3 waterproof pouches.
  • California trees and wildflower laminated guide.
  • California wildlife laminated guide.

There are two California State Library Parks Pass with Backpacks available for borrowing. These backpacks were provided to the Library in a grant awarded by the Southern California Library Cooperative and California State Library. 

Library cardholders may borrow a backpack for two weeks. You may place a hold if neither are available. You are also welcome to borrow just the Parks Pass vehicle hangtag

Each backpack includes:

  • California State Parks pass.
  • Compass.
  • California trees and wildflowers laminated guide.
  • California wildlife laminated guide.
  • Vehicle hangtag with the words "California State Library Parks Pass" to be hung on the rearview mirror or placed on the dashboard in plain sight. Non-transferable.

Prepare for your next biking trip by borrowing a bicycle repair kit. Strap the carry-on pouch to your bike frame so you can easily access it at any point on the trail. 

Library cardholders may borrow a bicycle repair kit for one week. You may place a hold if none are available.

Each kit includes:

  • Tire pump.
  • 15mm Spanner wrench.
  • Crank remover.
  • 2 tire levers.
  • Glueless patches.
  • 16-in-1 multitool that includes multiple Allen wrenches, socket tools, and wrenches. 

If you need more hands-on help with your bike, come to our Drop-In Bike Clinic every third Saturday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Professional bike mechanic Ryan Murphy will be available for advice and help with changing a tire, adjusting gears and brakes, identifying mysterious noises and more.
