Homebound Service

Bringing the Library to You 

If you or a loved one are homebound due to temporary or long-term illness, injury, or disability, the Mountain View Public Library is here to help. Our Homebound Service delivers library materials like books, audiobooks, DVDs, games, and more directly to your home or care facility. 

Available to residents of all ages, this free service ensures you can continue to enjoy and engage with everything the Library has to offer. 

How It Works

  1. Sign up: Complete the short application. See the “How to Apply” section below for more information. 
  2. Choose your preferences: Let us know your favorite authors, genres, or formats like large print or audiobooks. You can also request specific titles.
  3. Monthly delivery: Once enrolled, you'll receive a customized selection of materials every month. We’ll deliver them to your residence or care facility.
  4. Returns are easy: Simply return items in the provided bag and we will pick them up at the time of your next delivery. 

Requirements 

To qualify for Homebound Service, you must:

  • Be a resident of Mountain View.
  • Be unable to visit the Library due to a temporary or long-term condition (such as illness, injury, or disability).
  • Provide a valid address and contact information.
  • Agree to the terms of borrowing and returning materials

How to Apply 

Getting started is simple. Fill out a brief form with information about your:

  • Name, address, and contact details. 
  • Reading/listening preferences (e.g. genres, large print, audiobooks). 
  • Format preferences (e.g. books, DVDs, CDs, etc.). 
  • Number of items you'd like per month. 
  • Emergency contact person.

We use this information to tailor your monthly deliveries.
